Trade Committee Convenes at CSTARI to Finalize 240-Hour Curriculum for PIPED WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM (OPERATION & MAINTENANCE).
A Trade Committee meeting was convened at CSTARI to finalize the 240-hour curriculum for the PIPED WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM (OPERATION & MAINTENANCE) course, developed to support the growing need for skilled manpower in the water supply and sanitation sector.
The committee witnessed the participation of experts from Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA) Kolkata, Naba Diganta Water Management Limited, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee - National Institute of Water and Sanitation (SPM-NIWAS) Diamond Harbour Road, Joka, Kolkata - 700 104, the Central Water Commission kolkata, the Central Ground Water Board, the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Ministry of Jal Shakti, and other leading organizations. The experts deliberated extensively on the course content, occupational standards, practical competencies, and emerging sectoral requirements to ensure that the curriculum is relevant, comprehensive, and industry-oriented.
The meeting was also attended by Shri Sunil Kumar, IAS, Director, Youth, Skill, Employment & Training, Government of Bihar. He shared valuable insights from the implementation of the Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal scheme in Bihar, highlighting field-level challenges and suggesting practical inputs to strengthen the curriculum.
The committee’s recommendations played a key role in refining the curriculum and will help develop a robust, industry-relevant framework aligned with the objectives of the Jal Jeevan Mission. This will further strengthen the availability of skilled technicians for the operation and maintenance of PIPED WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM across the country.
